Profile of Greg Magee, Region 3 Director

 

Greg Magee is the Justice of the Peace for Precinct Four, San Jacinto County.  Judge Magee has served his county since 1975 as a dispatcher, deputy sheriff, elected constable and is in his 5thterm as justice of the peace.

As a Charter Member of JCJ, Judge Magee has served on several JCJ committees throughout the years and has held the office of Vice President, President Elect and President.  He is the JCJ College Director and an instructor for JCJ.

With a belief that education is a key to success, Judge Magee received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement & Police Science and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Sam Houston State University.  As Constable, he was a graduate of the initial class of the Law Enforcement Management Institute, now known as the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.  After being elected as justice of the peace, Judge Magee attended the South Texas College of Law and received his law degree in 2003.

He is a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society.  Judge Magee is a member of both the College of the State Bar of Texas and the College of Justice Court Judges. In September 2011, Judge Magee was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to serve on the 16-member Task Force for Rules in Small Claims Cases and Justice Court Proceedings. 

During his tenure as President, now Retired Judge Gordon Starkenburg appointed Judge Magee and his wife, Betty, as the “Cruise Directors” for JCJ. With over 15 cruises under their belt, their cruise experience has provided JCJ with the opportunity to bring judicial education to another level, providing an educational experience aboard a cruise ship.  Coordinating the “Seminars on the Sea”, judges, clerks, attorneys and other governmental officials have received quality education while experiencing the high seas.
